Cookie Recipe

Ingredients:
* 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
* 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 1 egg
* 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
* 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
* 1 cup DOVE® Brand Milk or Dark Chocolate Hearts
* 2/3 cup Red, pink and white M&M’S® Brand Milk Chocolate Candies for Valentine’s Day for decorating
* Various heart-shaped cookie cutters (Have fun! Use big and little heart cut-outs; scalloped edges add variety.)

Directions:
1. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add salt, egg and vanilla and continue to beat until well blended. Gradually blend in flour until fully incorporated. Wrap dough in plastic wrap and chill for at least one hour.

2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface or between two sheets of parchment paper or plastic wrap to about 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into heart shapes or use heart-shaped cookie cutters. Place on parchment covered baking sheet. Bake until golden brown (8-10 minutes). Cool.

3. To melt DOVE® Brand Milk or Dark Chocolate Hearts, microwave approximately 3-4 minutes on medium power, stirring every 20-30 seconds, being very careful not to burn.

4. Dip cookies in the melted DOVE® Brand Milk or Dark Chocolate Hearts. Dip a cookie edge or an entire side of a cookie in the chocolate. You can also try painting the chocolate on the cookies using a baker’s spatula or a table knife. Then decorate with M&M’S® Brand Milk Chocolate Candies for Valentine’s Day.

As an aunt of many nieces and nephews, when I babysit more than 2 of them at once, I like to make a variety of food and let them share. This dish is perfect for sharing.
Ingredients:

1 (8″) soft whole wheat tortilla

1 banana

1T raisins

cinnamon

honey

2T peanut butter (recommend Smucker’s reduced fat)

Instructions:

1. Spread a thin layer of peanut butter across the entire tortilla, leaving about 1/4″ gap at the edge. Shake cinnamon on top of the peanut butter. Bend/mush the banana in an attempt to straighten it and place in the middle of the tortilla. Roll up the tortilla tightly and leave seam-side down on the plate.

2. Cut into 8 pieces with a small pairing knife. Drizzle honey across the top in a zig-zag pattern so that some lands on the plate too. Place the currants on top of the roll and shake cinnamon on top.

3. For kids… I don’t recommend the chopsticks! Too dangerous!

Nutritional Information:
If you use Smuckers’ Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter, the fat intake is only 12g per serving with 8 grams of protein.

This recipe is a twist on a recipe from this site: “PeanutButterBoy.com“

Ingredients:

1 (12 oz.) package sausage links

Non-stick cooking spray

2 cups of pancake (that just uses water in batter)

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2/3 cup water

2/3 cup syrup

Napkins (optional)

Directions:
1	Cook sausage links in large skillet over medium-low heat for 10 to 13 minutes or until golden brown and no longer pink.
2	Spray skillet or griddle with no-stick cooking spray. Heat skillet over medium heat or electric griddle to 325°F.
3	Combine pancake mix and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Stir to distribute spice. Add water and syrup. Stir just until large lumps disappear. Pour slightly less than 1/4 cup batter for each pancake onto hot skillet or griddle. Cook about 2 minutes per side or until light golden brown. Roll one pancake around each sausage. Wrap in napkin, if desired.
4	Place syrup into small individual bowls. Warm in microwave 15 to 30 seconds on HIGH. Stir.
